Avalon
After a traumatic experience leaves her broken and alone, Avalon moves in with her Uncle. As they reconnect after being disassociated for several years, they begin to find solace in each other. As their relationship grows, it attracts new friends, old foes and exciting adventures.
Before you begin getting to know Avalon and her Uncle Byron, you will be given a choice between two friends;
Dallas or Octavia.
Dallas is a flirtatious cheerleader who may be more than she seems.
Octavia is benevolent and kind but behind her glowing personality is a deeply buried secret.
Who will you choose?

not sure if you're still here cause of the BS going on right now. but you are fucking awesome Lockheart! i love your games! it's like with and every update the game is polished before it's even released. seriously, I'll be playing one of your games and get irritated or disappointed that it comes to an and. then be like oh, it's not the final release. hopefully you read this; if not here then what is your favorite platform to sell your games on that will hopefully notify me upon every update you release? for the most part i just use f95 and donate or pay the developer(s) that feel like deserve it, cause you can definitely tell with these game whether someone has a love and passion for this ;) or rather it's just a fleeting fancy.

What a story! And it illuminates subjects that are treated with silence, and leaves everything to the one who is exploited in the most cruel way.
The bonus act "What if..?" really illuminate the whole, subject, and sorry to say, how easy it can be to avoid this happening.
Your artwork, Lockheart, puts you, into my own very small legendary list of artists, that I admire.
No this game is complete. It continues the story with "A Petal Among Thorns" and then with "A Moment of Bliss" it's a trilogy.
Not quite... Avalon happens *after* APAT and AMOB. APAT and AMOB are part of the Rose Garden trilogy, which will include the Moon chapter as well (Lock indicated he might be changing the title of it, so I don't know how to abbreviate it! LOL)
Perhaps we'll call it... Moon Pie?

Characters: 5/5 How you managed this, I don't know!
Story: 5/5 Excellent story with excellent conversations, and some surprises at the end which is worth the game price itself!
TL;DR – This game is good. It's not amazing. But it is good and it's worth your time! I would give the game a 4/5. Should be mentioned that this game deals with some heavy topics and can get a little depressing.
Renders – 4/5- Well they are good nothing amazing nothing bad, just decent/good.
Characters - 5/5 - The characters in this game are pretty well-written. They behave semi-realistic which is better than most of the visual novels. I was surprised at how fast I grew to like some of them. Their relationships development was a bit rushed a but I'm willing to forgive that. There was some fun/nice banter between the characters which is nice.
Story/Writing -4/5- The dev has done an incredible job giving characters a heart. As you learn more about each character, you rapidly grow attached and will start to feel their pain. One caveat is that all of the mysteries are solved and all the conflicts ended off-screen and then you are just told about them later.
Sex Scenes -4/5- They were extremely rewarding for having built your way up to that point, but they need more dialog. Right now they are shorter than I would like.

Steam has rejected A Petal Among Thorns without the possibility of resubmission, but I'm going to try to get A Moment of Bliss on there. Thank you for your support, Evilbean.
Firstly, I like the game and bought it on steam. But it does feel a little like it's written by someone with ADHD. The script is a big long series of and then scenes. It introduces bad guys and kills them off, someone's upset then horny then you are on holiday then an assassination attempt.. etc etc.. I wish it spent more time on each scene and had a little more depth of character.
You may enjoy A Petal Among Thorns a bit more. It's my second completed work, and it's paced a bit better. Also it's more down to earth.

Absolutely enamoured with APATT and once I'm done with it I plan on picking up Avalon. Any reason the Linux build isn't included on Steam?
I believe I've rectified this issue. It does run on Linux, I just didn't have the right box checked on Steam. Steamworks is pretty tough to navigate. Thank you for enjoying my work!
I just saw you added Linux as a platform; I assume for x66? Just letting you know I'm enjoying your games (currently Avalon) on my Raspberry Pi 4B; I just run it from the Ren'Py launcher (since I'm on Manjaro-ARM, I can't just put in the 32-bit ARM Ren'Py libraries, so I use the distro-supplied Ren-Py).
Definitely a tribute to Ren'Py's portability and kudos to you, too, for a good job coding.
I build all my distributions for PC and Linx so they should work for both. I didn't realize that I didn't have the box checked. Avalon should work with PC and Linux. Let me know if it doesn't though.
RenPy games are coded in python so they are mostly platform-independent. You should be able to launch the linux version on your rpi without needing to use the SDK but the SDK will always work regardless. For example, I'm on a Mac M1 which is also arm but it runs the Mac version compiled by lock on x86 without issue and don't need to use the SDK
edit: this doesn't work with the pc/windows version since it's a compiled x86 binary .exe file but on *nix OS' they use a shell script to invoke python directly so it should work fine
The RPi needs ARM libraries that I've not seen included with any game. Additionally, the 32-bit libraries that Ren'Py provides as an optional download won't work with a 64-bit RPi OS, so they need to be compiled or, as the case with Manjaro ARM, provided by the distro's renpy package.
I'm not asking game devs to provide RPi builds - they have enough work to do - just pointing out that the game can indeed be played on a Raspberry Pi and it's quite easy for users to do. :-)

It's wonderful to hear you're enjoying Avalon. I've rather missed working with her lately.
I've closed my Patreon down for now as I'm still trying to find my way in this market. Penny's game was ambitious and I thought I had something special with her game but it turned out to be rather poorly received so I've taken a step back to learn more about this community and where my place is in it exactly. Once I'm more confident in my abilities and I feel like I'm on the right track, I may open it back up.
Penny for Your Thoughts is the spin off I did featuring Penny. It's technically complete as the story does conclude so if you're interested in seeing more of her, I highly recommend it. I put a considerable amount of effort into it.

This is one of the best stories I have read in a long time. I love how you mixed all of the emotions and personalities. The subject matter itself is hard to tell a story about but you pulled it off! I think my only complaint was the ending. Although I realize that the end goal was about Avalon overcoming her trauma, I couldn't help but feel like he ending was rather abrupt. It just left me wanting to see more. I had hoped to see where Eric, Avalon and Dallas (My story arc) would have been down the road. Did Avalon and Eric Marry? Did they have a family? Does Dallas stay with them? Lastly, I liked Avalons hair in the alternate story line much much better than in the main story. She was so much more attractive with her hair down that with it up in that strange braid and short cut.
Please keep turning out the great stories. I have been following a Petal Among Thorns and I love it so far. I plan to pick up a Penny for your Thoughts very soon.
Thank you, GunDriver! Avalon was very much a practice novel for me. I learned a lot from making it. I do hope to touch on what happens in the future for them but for now it's a mystery. I changed a few things about Avalon for the What If..? version and she looked much better. I wish I had made her that way from the beginning. As I said, I learned a lot and that's why Petal is so darling.

Very good. I thought the adult scenes were a bit short/rushed, but the overall story was pretty good. Definitely worth my time and money.

Making things dramatic personally was never a bad thing from time to time. Personally I think it gave the character life, as if I was reading an actual person life story. Keep doing what you're doing. Your awesome

I realize the game is basically done, and maybe I'm just overly sentimental, but I always sort of like it when games like this do some sort of post credits epilogue where it time jumps some distance into the future to show (or at least describe, even if it's just text) some important event(s) in their future lives together.
like when they (all 3?) get engaged, or married, or birth of first child, or birth of first grandchild, etc.
Though I guess some of that could be incorporated into Penny's game. Presumably she'd be invited to the wedding, and would likely be aware of what happens in their lives. (likely need some way to specify which of the 4 endings occurred though.)
I thought about showing what happens in the future with Byron and the girls but it would lock me into a specific future if I did that. With Penny's game being in the same universe, I didn't want to tie myself into anything. There are also a lot of people aggressively requesting an Avalon 2. I have no plans on making a sequel at this time but it's not something I could do if I locked myself into a specific future.
The Bonus Act also is going to be quite different than what most people expect. It will likely be out early next month. I'm sure glad you enjoyed your time reading Avalon. That means so much to me. I hope you're eager to try Penny's game when it's ready. It's going to be a vast improvement in all areas, I'm excited about it.
There is still one Act left; the Bonus Act. It will focus on Leah, Avalon, and Byron. Once I'm finished with the Bonus Act, I'll wrap up Avalon and begin working on Penny for Your Thoughts. I've been adamant about finishing Avalon before starting on Penny's game. I'm hoping to have Avalon completely finished between mid-January or early February. I just downloaded the version 7.6 on android and I can't load a previously saved file to continue. Getting an error message. Only way to play is to completely start over
Adultgamer, I worked very hard to implement an Act Select on the Main Menu. It will start the story from whichever Act you choose. During development, I've made a lot of changes and updates as I learned new things. Since this is my first novel, it hasn't gone terribly smooth. I apologize about the corrupted saved but I hope to have it under control with my next game. Please try out the Act Select, it will give you all the options, such as Dallas or Octavia and Poly or Mono, before it starts the Act.

Wow, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The woman in the gold dress is Octavia, and her story is very different. Though the path for Avalon and Byron is the same, the side scenes are completely different. I'm finishing up the Poly Routes and then I'm going to have a very special Bonus Act that I'm just sure you'll love. But it'll be a few months until I get that out.
