Btw...your ability to suggest backstory through character dialogue hints is extraordinary! The mom's story seems to want to dovetail into a happy ending for all and I eagerly anticipate that reveal. I'm working my way through the current version of Penny. Another thing you're doing here that is excellent is the associated story lines. You're a cut above the other dev's I've been exposed to. I only got interested in AVN's about 3 or 4 months ago. I've been through about 70 now... and while there are some very quality pieces of work out there... you're significantly more sophisticated. It also seems obvious that English is a first language for you.... or at least a second language. Not just for the ability to provide a more colloquial dialogue but the more elegant handling of speech. I am actually assisting with the dev's of Lust Academy helping them by going through their dialogue and 'Americanizing' it. Their work is good graphically and I like the premise of the story... it has great potential. But the dialogue... like most Russian developed work... is horrible. My sense of this genre is that it is still relatively young and it has so much exciting potential if it is produced by real artists. ... with real resources. It should not take years to produce completed versions of stories and I am confident that this will evolve rapidly once the real potential is experienced and the audience grows. I am going to go through my Patreon subscriptions and wean some of them off because I started supporting some when I was first getting into AVN's. I have a much better sense of which dev's are really deserving support. Once that's done I'll increase my support. I am really impressed by your work.

I am a native English speaker, and I've developed my writing and rendering skills considerably over the last few years. Unfortunately, I haven't noticed writing quality or graphics quality having a large influence on the success of a visual novel. There are also large entities working against this industry. It will be interesting to see how things progress over the next few years.
One main reason that some novels are in development forever is because once you finish a novel, you'll lost an estimated 30% of your patrons. With Steam picking up popularity for visual novels, we may see a shift from relying on patronage to more developers trying to crank out novels to get more Steam sales. Another aspect in the industry that will be interesting to watch unfold.

The Steam model would be far superior because it allows for quality to define income. I'd gladly pay more for better product and thus look forward to a given developer's work. And that model doesn't destroy the subscription model as developers could still have their own 'clubs' where subscribers could receive the latest work free or at a discount. The difference is that the developer can then produce his/her work according to an artful vision rather than a structured economy.

You, apparently by nature, want to wrestle with basic ethical and moral arguments. That's understandable when dealing with topics like incest and the social mores associated. (And that's not even diving into the questions related such as the relevant influences in childhood sexual development.) Having said that, with Penny there's a number of issues in the story that are challenging and that illustrate a larger matter with female pro's. Penny appears to be compelled to committed monogamy due to her morals and ethics. That limits, to a large degree, the amount of sexual encounters that fit in the story's development. There are 'hints' thus far in the story of other potential sexual content developments but they are thin, so far, and seemingly extraneous to the main story line. So I am curious to see how that will be developed. And one question of female pro's is how to develop that engaging sexual content (that is required to appeal to the audience these AVNs are directed at) unless she is, for the sake of discussion, a nymphomaniac.... or at least, per some applied lens, appears to be. And it seems, based on the kinds of moral issues you want to address, there is some conundrum of opposing constructs there. I am married to a bisexual woman who, interestingly enough, is only interested in me as far as male encounters are concerned, but who is really horny to have lots of experiences with other women. Consequently, we don't fit very well in the mainstream swinger paradigm, at least not without some challenge, because it is, to large extent, male driven. Since I'm mostly a voyeur my wife and I fit together well, yet have some challenges whereas finding adventures for her. This is relevant as it highlights the difference in female sexuality and relates the general matter of how women characters are perceived. But the point about how to use female pro's in AVNs and keep them 'pervy' is challenging indeed. So, it will be interesting to see how Penny develops.
I'm currently taking a poll to see if my Patrons want me to continue working on Penny's game or focus on A Moment of Bliss. You're not wrong, it would be tricky to make Penny's game work in this market. Maybe even impossible. It's predominantly males who play these games, and female protagonist games don't tend to do as well. I've had some clever ideas, but I doubt they are clever enough to propel Penny's game to even moderate success. Still, I am very passionate about Penny and I would love to work with her more.

So, I started playing the game and I noticed an option called Video HWA, and I was wondering what does that work for? There are a few more settings I don't quite understand, but this is the one I'm most concerned about.
I played your game for a while now on Android and there is one major bug that really annoyed me for a while. When set the character names and so on in the beginning all works fine but when you save and close the game and you start it new after a while. Then all settings are deleted and your characters will named by default and allso the relationship is landlord and so on. Even if you go in to the menu and set them new they will not change. Only way is to start a new game and skip everything to the point where you left of . But all in all your game is really awesome so far . Can't wait for the next update 😊

It sounds like you have an older version of the game. The current build is 4.0.6 and it should have taken care of those issues. Can you tell me what version you're playing?
I understand if it makes you uncomfortable. It is a scary message. Unfortunately Android isn't as easy to work with as Windows or Mac. In order to move your saves from one build to another, the APK needs access to your files. Otherwise all the saves you make from one build won't carry over to the next because the game can't locate the saves because they don't have access to your files. It's a game built in Ren'Py, it doesn't collect any information or transmit any data. It's nothing malicious but if it makes you uncomfortable, I recommend playing on PC.

Moon will give us an additional perspective on the MC. Her game will be the third in the series. While I'm confident in my ability to change your mind about her if you play Over the Moon, I have divided the series into three parts because they're three separate styles. Bliss is a lot like Dallas. Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside. She's a bit of a tomboy. She'll play an important role in helping Chester grow his character. Again, you might not like her but that's why I'm splitting the games up. I bet if you give her a chance though, you'll enjoy her personality. She's going to be a lot of fun.

Very interesting choice to really deep-dive into the dynamic of this relationship. The character of Chuck was an unexpected addition, really not splitting hairs with his purpose in the story lol. I think it might have been cool to give Petal a real reason to be so self-concious, she really gives off "excessively hot nerd that nobody notices for some reason in a rom-com" vibes. Like an eating disorder could have created an interesting dialogue. Just would have helped me with my immersion a little, but I get that she has to be super hot for the purposes of the game. The fact that you stare the main issue of the taboo relationship so starkly in the face was enough to get my approval though. Great work!
We won't be touching on feminization. A Petal Among Thorns does have light femdom but not the traditional kind. A Moment of Bliss will have heavier elements of femdom. I can't explain too much for spoiler reasons but Bliss is definitely more intense.

Starting a project like this is a big commitment but it can be extremely rewarding. I certainly encourage giving it a try. Unfortunately, I have years worth of projects that I'm invested in so I won't be looking for any partnerships for a while. With all the tools available today though, you can learn how to construct exceptional visuals. I personally use Daz for all my posing and animating. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

I must admit you did an excellent job with this game. The narrative and graphics are just WOW. I love your art style. I can say it's the best graphics quality I have seen recently. Don't give up on this project and everything you are working on. Compared to other similar game / story makers, you are simply top quality. This story reminds me of my life story, not in this type of relationship and not in the same age difference (I was then 34 and she 19), but it brings back memories. The story is amazingly engaging I actually was suprised and outraged with what happened to chuck in his past and I found it difficult to play this just for the pleasure of the mature content. I did find few times where the dialog was off because of an extra word being thrown in but they were far and few between that it didn't bother me at all and it kind of fit because when your having a charged conversation it makes sense that you won't always talk in perfect english. The art is top notch I thought because it was a ren'play that it would be a little clunky but to my suprise it was beautifully done all the way through. I know that every time the relationship took another I felt I was actually taking that step with the characters. The use of mostly first person perspectives for the main character really added the the ability to be immersed in the story. I look forward to seeing this story continue and even the sequel that is talked about in the ending scene of chapter 3. You did an amazing job on this story and I know that you said this is an experament of your and that your trying something new with story but you did such an amazing job so far with this that I wouldn't have been able to tell if. For those who are looking for a casual story driven spicy game this is definatly worth a try and don't worry if your not to big into the taboo side of fetishism because the whole story basically says that they are two fully grown adults and so it shouldn't matter. So far this game is a 10/10 and only getting better.

My wife and I have been trying to have kids for so long yet after we read a petal among thorns up to volume 3 we actually started roleplaying, a bit of domination (from both sides) and we are expecting twins. We were glued to the screen wanting to know what happens next. We also started naked yoga a few months ago and. Your novel is really the reason that we are expecting. I am sorry we could not buy the novel finances are low because we are saving for our kids future. You made our marriage more of a pleasure. I just played through all 3 chapters in nearly one sitting. It was absolutely enthralling! All I could think about all day was clocking out of work and continuing the game. I stayed up all night playing it. Music is wonderful and complimented each scene perfectly. Petal's character is crazy good, and her conversations, her dialogue, the way she teases and dances around topics is very artfully done, and really brings her to life very effectively. If there is any small con to be found, the MC sometimes comes off tropey or cringy, but still his character is leagues better than what you typically find in entertainment of this subject matter. What a stellar experience and I just want to play through it over and over again. Can't wait for chapters 4 and 5 and the sequel. Instant loyal fan.

First of all really awesome novel! I tried the first 2 chapters and loved it! I bought the 3rd chapter and started over, but now Petal won't use the name I chose for her to call me. I tried changing it in the names and relations, but she still just says dad. The name I chose did work before I installed the 3rd chapter, any help would be appreciated.
To clarify she uses what I want when being intimate, but not what I want when she addresses me normally. Also this is on the android download, haven't tried it on PC yet.

So, yet another review for anyone on the fence about whether or not this novel is worth their time, let alone an actual price. Let me give a brief preface before beginning. I never read visual novels. I have always disliked them. I prefer more interactivity personally. 90% of the time I immediately pass a game over if it's classified as a visual novel. I honestly have no idea how I ended up on this page. I can only assume I did something wonderful to someone somewhere in my life, and this is my reward.
This story is a magnificent piece of fiction. It manages to be erotic without being vulgar. It's sweet without being sappy. It's appealing without being pandering. Every moment is heartwarming and engaging. The protagonist is both relatable and understandable. Petal is a character you feel is a real person, with a real personality, and real desires. You feel the struggles of the characters and their desire to continue exploring their new reality in every frame. You feel compelled to continue, every day in the story being a wonderful new experience. Which is precisely what this novel is. It's not a mere series of pictures solely designed to stimulate, it's not just a story, it's an experience.
This is the only game I have ever paid for on Itch.io. It is certainly the only visual novel I've ever enjoyed (I did try many before deciding I disliked the genre). This is the only time I have ever created a profile on a site, ANY site, for the sole purpose of leaving a review. I did that because I felt so very much compelled to encourage others to take this journey. You will not regret it.

A major problem with porn these days is that it's often stale, bland, and flat. Romance, teasing, build up, and anticipation are important aspects of sex often missed in nearly every industry. When you bring these aspects into a story, you can greatly enhance the experience for the reader. I take great care to sculpt my characters to be actual people you'd want to engage with in real life and not just some random pizza man bringing a one-topping pie with extra sausage.

In fact, Adult Visual Novels can often be so wonderful to experience that you get addicted and want to try out other AVNs. It's a Hardware Accelerator on / off switch. If you're having trouble running the game, you can turn that to potentially fix the issue.

I understand if it makes you uncomfortable. It is a scary message. Unfortunately Android isn't as easy to work with as Windows or Mac. In order to move your saves from one build to another, the APK needs access to your files. Otherwise all the saves you make from one build won't carry over to the next because the game can't locate the saves because they don't have access to your files. It's a game built in Ren'Py, it doesn't collect any information or transmit any data. It's nothing malicious but if it makes you uncomfortable, I recommend playing on PC.

Moon will give us an additional perspective on the MC. Her game will be the third in the series. While I'm confident in my ability to change your mind about her if you play Over the Moon, I have divided the series into three parts because they're three separate styles. If there's a particular style you dislike, you can avoid it without missing the other styles from the other games. Thank you for playing.

Bliss is a lot like Dallas. Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside. She's a bit of a tomboy. She'll play an important role in helping Chester grow his character. Again, you might not like her but that's why I'm splitting the games up. I bet if you give her a chance though, you'll enjoy her personality. She's going to be a lot of fun.

Very interesting choice to really deep-dive into the dynamic of this relationship. The character of Chuck was an unexpected addition, really not splitting hairs with his purpose in the story lol. I think it might have been cool to give Petal a real reason to be so self-concious, she really gives off "excessively hot nerd that nobody notices for some reason in a rom-com" vibes. Like an eating disorder could have created an interesting dialogue. Just would have helped me with my immersion a little, but I get that she has to be super hot for the purposes of the game. The fact that you stare the main issue of the taboo relationship so starkly in the face was enough to get my approval though. Great work!

We won't be touching on feminization. A Petal Among Thorns does have light femdom but not the traditional kind. A Moment of Bliss will have heavier elements of femdom. I can't explain too much for spoiler reasons but Bliss is definitely more intense.

Starting a project like this is a big commitment but it can be extremely rewarding. I certainly encourage giving it a try. Unfortunately, I have years worth of projects that I'm invested in so I won't be looking for any partnerships for a while. With all the tools available today though, you can learn how to construct exceptional visuals. I personally use Daz for all my posing and animating. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

It's like any other skill. The more you do it, the better you'll get at it. It's much more possible than it seems at first but it does take practice.

I must admit you did an excellent job with this game. The narrative and graphics are just WOW. I love your art style. I can say it's the best graphics quality I have seen recently. Don't give up on this project and everything you are working on. Compared to other similar game / story makers, you are simply top quality. This story reminds me of my life story, not in this type of relationship and not in the same age difference (I was then 34 and she 19), but it brings back memories. The story is amazingly engaging I actually was suprised and outraged with what happened to chuck in his past and I found it difficult to play this just for the pleasure of the mature content. I did find few times where the dialog was off because of an extra word being thrown in but they were far and few between that it didn't bother me at all and it kind of fit because when your having a charged conversation it makes sense that you won't always talk in perfect english. The art is top notch I thought because it was a ren'play that it would be a little clunky but to my suprise it was beautifully done all the way through. I know that every time the relationship took another I felt I was actually taking that step with the characters. The use of mostly first person perspectives for the main character really added the the ability to be immersed in the story. I look forward to seeing this story continue and even the sequel that is talked about in the ending scene of chapter 3. You did an amazing job on this story and I know that you said this is an experament of your and that your trying something new with story but you did such an amazing job so far with this that I wouldn't have been able to tell if. For those who are looking for a casual story driven spicy game this is definatly worth a try and don't worry if your not to big into the taboo side of fetishism because the whole story basically says that they are two fully grown adults and so it shouldn't matter. So far this game is a 10/10 and only getting better.

I first discovered Avalon a few months ago, and absolutely fell in love with the characters and their stories, so I was already excited to see Petal's story. As other's have already stated, it's been sweet and endearing and the characters feel like real people that I would love to meet on the street one day and strike up a conversation with. You have done a wonderful job and I am looking forward to the next chapters.

My wife and I have been trying to have kids for so long yet after we read a petal among thorns up to volume 3 we actually started roleplaying, a bit of domination (from both sides) and we are expecting twins. We were glued to the screen wanting to know what happens next. We also started naked yoga a few months ago and. Your novel is really the reason that we are expecting. I am sorry we could not buy the novel finances are low because we are saving for our kids future. You made our marriage more of a pleasure. I'm 44 my wife 28 yet she said with this novel I am 30 years old again. Though we only have two sounds from the novel (swallowing & jumping in the pool) it does not really matter. I thank you. I just played through all 3 chapters in nearly one sitting. It was absolutely enthralling! All I could think about all day was clocking out of work and continuing the game. I stayed up all night playing it. Music is wonderful and complimented each scene perfectly. Petal's character is crazy good, and her conversations, her dialogue, the way she teases and dances around topics is very artfully done, and really brings her to life very effectively. If there is any small con to be found, the MC sometimes comes off tropey or cringy, but still his character is leagues better than what you typically find in entertainment of this subject matter. What a stellar experience and I just want to play through it over and over again. Can't wait for chapters 4 and 5 and the sequel. Instant loyal fan.

First of all really awesome novel! I tried the first 2 chapters and loved it! I bought the 3rd chapter and started over, but now Petal won't use the name I chose for her to call me. I tried changing it in the names and relations, but she still just says dad. The name I chose did work before I installed the 3rd chapter, any help would be appreciated.
To clarify she uses what I want when being intimate, but not what I want when she addresses me normally. Also this is on the android download, haven't tried it on PC yet.

I hadn't realized how many people don't like that and prefer the option to choose. I'll add back in the option to choose the relationship titles in the next update. I apologize, Kamaralyn.

So, yet another review for anyone on the fence about whether or not this novel is worth their time, let alone an actual price. Let me give a brief preface before beginning. I never read visual novels. I have always disliked them. I prefer more interactivity personally. 90% of the time I immediately pass a game over if it's classified as a visual novel. I honestly have no idea how I ended up on this page. I can only assume I did something wonderful to someone somewhere in my life, and this is my reward.
This story is a magnificent piece of fiction. It manages to be erotic without being vulgar. It's sweet without being sappy. It's appealing without being pandering. Every moment is heartwarming and engaging. The protagonist is both relatable and understandable. Petal is a character you feel is a real person, with a real personality, and real desires. You feel the struggles of the characters and their desire to continue exploring their new reality in every frame. You feel compelled to continue, every day in the story being a wonderful new experience. Which is precisely what this novel is. It's not a mere series of pictures solely designed to stimulate, it's not just a story, it's an experience.
This is the only game I have ever paid for on Itch.io. It is certainly the only visual novel I've ever enjoyed (I did try many before deciding I disliked the genre). This is the only time I have ever created a profile on a site, ANY site, for the sole purpose of leaving a review. I did that because I felt so very much compelled to encourage others to take this journey. You will not regret it.

A major problem with porn these days is that it's often stale, bland, and flat. Romance, teasing, build up, and anticipation are important aspects of sex often missed in nearly every industry. When you bring these aspects into a story, you can greatly enhance the experience for the reader. I take great care to sculpt my characters to be actual people you'd want to engage with in real life and not just some random pizza man bringing a one-topping pie with extra sausage.
